Party & club etiquette: dos and don'ts

First lifestyle event? A few simple courtesies make you welcome anywhere.

Play parties and clubs run on consent and courtesy. Get these right and you'll be welcome everywhere. Ask before you touch — anyone or anything. 'Mind if we join?' and 'Is this seat taken?' are your friends. A no is honored instantly and graciously. Don't interrupt a scene. Whether watching is welcome depends on the space and the people — never assume, and never crowd. Respect privacy hard: no photos, phones away, and what happens there stays there. Never out anyone you recognize, in or out of the venue. Mind hygiene, bring your own supplies, tip the host or venue, and clean up after yourself. And remember: 'we're just socializing tonight' is a completely full answer — nobody owes anybody play.
